A blend of Tempranillo, Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha.
The C.V.N.E. Imperial Rioja Gran Reserva is made from grapes grown in the premium subregion of Rioja Alta.
The wine traces its origins to the 1920s, when Imperial was first produced by C.V.N.E. as a classic expression of Rioja and developed into one of the house's most recognised wines. The C.V.N.E. Imperial Gran Reserva is reserved for selected vintages, drawing on some of the winery's finest Rioja Alta vineyards and undergoing careful grape selection both in the vineyard and at the winery. Its traditional approach continues through extended ageing in French and American oak followed by further maturation in bottle within C.V.N.E.'s historic cellars in Haro.
Ruby red in colour, the C.V.N.E. Imperial Rioja Gran Reserva shows a youthful hint at the rim. The nose reveals interesting and complex aromas of ripe fruits in perfect balance with spices, toffee, roasted coffee and balsamic notes. The palate is soft with silky tannins, good, fresh acidity and a long finish with a balsamic aftertaste. In terms of matching, the C.V.N.E. Imperial Rioja Gran Reserva is a perfect companion for red meats and any dish of the Mediterranean diet.
