A blend of Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Arzuaga Gran Reserva is made from grapes taken off extremely low yielding, old Tempranillo vines (95%) with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot making up the difference. The Tempranillo vines produce about 3000kg of fruits per hectare. It takes about 1 kg of fruit to make a bottle of wine, so each plot of land measuring 100 meters by 100 meters produces only around 3 bottles of the Gran Arzuaga. The wine spent 40 months in oak barrels before release. Only about 4000 bottles are produced.
