Grape Variety:  100% Tinta de Toro (local name for Tempranillo) from 100+ year old vines.

The Teso la Monja Alabaster is the Eguren family’s representation of the elegance that can be achieved in wines made from the oldest Tinta de Toro vineyards. The wine is profoundly balanced with silky texture, and a maximum expression of terroir. It is made under the traditional method. The grapes are destemmed by hand and sorted berry by berry. Temperature controlled fermentation in open French oak deposits with selected indigenous yeast, and done with traditional foot press. The must was macerated for 21 days and underwent malolactic fermentation. This was followed by 18 months aging in new French oak Bordelaise barrels to soften the edges of the wine.

The Teso la Monja Alabaster has a dense purple colour. On the nose, dark fruit, Asian spices and liquorice with a background of flowers. The wine is lush with textured fruit and juicy acidity. It is powerful yet complex, showing off a long finish and persistence.
