The Schild Estate Barossa Valley Merlot is deep cherry red in colour; the nose is fresh and focused with aromas of dark plums and fresh cherries supported by secondary notes of marzipan and pastry in the background. A soft, fleshy attack on the front palate show cases some further hints of plums and intense fruit. This is followed by some lifted lightness on the palate weight and both combine to provide a soft, textural feel to the wine. A fine tannin framework then kicks in keeping it all in place and focused.
