Carpineto Brunello di Montalcino 2017

Winery: Carpineto
Country: Italy
Region: Tuscany
Body: Full
Varietal: Sangiovese

Carpineto is a dynamic estate with property in Chianti Classico and Montepulciano in addition to Montalcino, where the fruit is grown on a dry-farmed outcropping at over 500 meters in elevation, sloping gently northward. It is one of the coolest climates in Montalcino, and in fact, it is one of the last vineyards to be picked. The Carpineto Brunello di Montalcino opens to fresh berry aromas with forest floor, wild cherry and cassis, with a good amount of the proverbial red fruit energy in this wine to keep it lively and vivid. Subtle layers of spice and smoke are intermingled at the back. It's a nice Brunello for a sirloin and mushrooms.
