Natural wine is all the rage these days. At its core, natural wine refers to wines that are made from grapes grown without interference from chemicals and crafted at the winery with minimal intervention. The premise of natural wine is that wine should taste as authentic as it should be, created in a sustainable environment that promotes healthy viticulture. That means no "artificial" additives like pesticides and chemical fertilisers, and no cultured yeasts or added sulphites. Some winemakers age their wines in clay amphora and choose not to fine or filter the wine before bottling.

There is no official, universal classification on what constitutes natural wines, although there are some efforts from different bodies around the world to try and agree on what natural wine should be. As of now, it makes sense to consider natural wine as being on a spectrum from organic to biodynamic to hardcore natural where the grapes are crushed and kept aside to ferment in the garage (with all ten fingers crossed that the final product will turn out drinkable). Depending on how far natural winemakers push the envelope, natural wines can taste just like normal table wine or funky like a rockstar on overdrive.
