The name La Jefa translates to The (female) Boss, which is appropriate for this bottle. Usually a quiet workhorse varietal used in a blend to give wines an aromatic lift, Malvasia takes centre stage here with a 100% unblended option. As far as we know, Bodegas Matsu might be the first and only winery in Toro to produce a white wine and the result is great. The nose is very expressive and the palate is layered and round. This roundness though may give the impression that the Matsu La Jefa has a short finish. The opulence actually gives way to a long dry finish which is evident to the connoisseur. Overall, the Matsu La Jefa is a very enjoyable wine.
