Chateau Musar is one of Lebanon's most celebrated wineries. Founded in 1930 in the Bekaa Valley, where vines were first planted 6000 years ago, the winery takes inspiration from Bordeaux. Serge Hochar (son of founder Gaston Hochar) studied winemaking under Jean Riberau and Emile Peynaud and in 1977 established the Chateau Musar red wine style.
The winery continued wine making operations throughout Lebanon's civil war from 1975 to 1990. Chateau Musar has grown from strength to strength and is today one of the world's most sought after producers of fine red wines. The Chateau Musar Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault. Dense and richly textured, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Decant for a few hours and remove sediments before serving at 18 degrees. Best paired with roast meats, lamb and mature cheese.
