The Avignonesi Capannelle 50 & 50 is a wine made jointly by Avignonesi and Capannelle. It is a wine that interprets the distinctive qualities of two wine areas, among the oldest in Tuscany, in a surprising double terroir expression: Chianti (Capannelle) soil, rich in clay, and the clay soil of Montepulciano (Avignonesi). The characteristics of the 2 different terroir combine perfectly in the choice of vines. The Sangiovese Capannelle leads to blend structure, tannins and austerity, while the Avignonesi Merlot contributes with elegance, softness and depth. Aging in French oak barrels lasts for 18 months.
The Avignonesi Capannelle 50&50 2008 has a deep, dark ruby colour. A powerful and seductive wine, the bouquet is elegant and ample with aromas of red currants, black berries, undergrowth and subtle spices. The taste is well balanced with silky tannins and a long lingering finish with notes of leather, cocoa and Mediterranean herbs.
