Second wine of Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte.

The Le Petit Haut Lafitte Rouge by Smith Haut Lafitte has a very dark red colour, adorned with bluish tints. The very expressive nose mixes fragrances of fruits (fresh red and black fruits), spices (star anise) and liquorice with smoky notes. On the palate, a powerful attack precedes a palate which seduces with its smooth touch, balance and delicate union between substance, softness, opulence and freshness. The beautifully long palate unveils refined tannins, as well as a mouth-coating and delicious substance. Throughout the tasting, a rich, aromatic palette made up of intense aromas of fruit, sweet spices, blond tobacco leaf as well as notes of graphite and liquorice are conveyed.

"More serious and structured than the Hauts de Smith, reflecting the larger proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, the 2020 Le Petit Haut Lafitte reveals aromas of cassis, plums, bay leaf and smoke, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and incisive palate framed by youthfully chalky tannins." - RP, 91 points

"Very floral with sliced oranges, currants and tobacco leaf. Medium-bodied, fresh, crunchy and delicious. Lovely energy. Drink or hold." - James Suckling, 93 points

"The 2020 Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte is a gorgeous second wine. Dark cherry, grilled herbs, menthol, licorice, plum, spice and tobacco infuse the 2020 with striking aromatic nuance. Cabernet Sauvignon drives the blend, and that is very much in evidence in the wine's flavor profile and overall structure. There’s terrific depth and density here, not to mention tons of character." - Antonio Galloni, 94 points
