The Avignonesi Capannelle 50 & 50 is a wine made jointly by Avignonesi and Capannelle. It is a wine that interprets the distinctive qualities of two wine areas, among the oldest in Tuscany, in a surprising double terroir expression: Chianti (Capannelle) soil, rich in clay, and the clay soil of Montepulciano (Avignonesi). The characteristics of the 2 different terroir combine perfectly in the choice of vines. The Sangiovese Capannelle leads to blend structure, tannins and austerity, while the Avignonesi Merlot contributes with elegance, softness and depth. Aging in French oak barrels lasts for 18 months.
The Avignonesi Capannelle 50&50 2009 has a deep, dark ruby colour. A powerful and seductive wine, the bouquet is intense and persistent with notes of red fruits, black cherries, sweet spices and an underlying, balsamic touch. On the palate this wine is full-bodied and characterized by a surprising freshness and silky soft tannins with a long lingering, pleasantly dry finish.
