Natural wine.
A blend of Syrah and Chardonnay.
Marking the beginning of the vintage each year, the first fruit to be harvested is always the base for Pretty Fun. In 2021 this was selected from two sites: a parcel of Syrah from the Top Range vineyard (managed by Fiona Wood) picked on the 17th of Feb; and Chardonnay from Kas Sluiter's vineyard at Mylor, picked on the 26th of Feb. The grapes were whole-bunch pressed and the juice was fermented in barriques and puncheons, then racked off lees and blended into tank towards the end of fermentation. It was bottled with 10 grams of residual sugar, then laid down in the cellar for five months and allowed to ferment to dryness.
The Pretty Fun is textural with a good acid line thanks to the early harvest. It has a bright pink hue and the bead is fine. The un-disgorged wine is crisp with a leesy minerality and dangerously easy to drink at 11.5%. Perfect for the backyard or a day in the park where the sun is shining!
This is a very vigorous Pet Nat! Make sure the bottle is VERY WELL CHILLED before serving as this will lower the chance of overflow on opening!
