The Schild Estate Barossa Valley Shiraz shows ruby red with purple hues and has a nose of rich ripe blackcurrants, dark morello cherries and clove spice. On the palate, plush, soft berry fruits and flavours of dark chocolate and mocha are supported by a fine tannin framework and hints of dry roasted nuts derived from some well balanced and integrated oak presence.
Big yet balanced, this is Barossa Valley shiraz as we like it. The Schild Estate Barossa Valley Shiraz is one of our most popular best buys. Grown in the southern part of the Barossa where the micro-climate is cooler than the rest of the valley, the grapes ripen at a slower and prolonged pace. The result is a shiraz that is layered in texture and flavours rather than an octane charged fruit bomb. We recommend pairing this wine with a steak or stew, but it will show really well even when drunk on its own. We know, because we drink it too.
