Appellation: Cotes-Rotie
100% Syrah.
The M Chapoutier Cote-Rotie Les Becasses Rouge is deep purplish red in colour. On the nose, the wine reveals raspberries, a hint of violets, predominantly spicy with rosemary, black olive and tapenade notes, characteristic of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. The palate is ample and deep, woody, spicy with vanilla notes at the back.
"The Cote Rotie les Bécasses—a blend of different sites from Tupin up through St-Cyr—is peppery and herbal, with raspberry and cranberry fruit. Medium-bodied, silky and refined, it doesn't come across as underripe, except for perhaps the hints of cranberry and cedar on the tart but elegant finish." - RP, 90-92 points
"Black raspberries, smoked bacon, and assorted red, blue, and black fruits all emerge from the Côte Rôtie Les Bécasses, a charming, medium-bodied, elegant Côte Rôtie. Aged in 30% new oak, I love its fresh, focused profile, and it's perfect for drinking over the coming 7-8 years or thereabouts."" - Jeb Dunnuck, 90 points
