Vibrant bright yellow-lime. Generous lively aromas of citrus, flowers, spice and honey all of which flow through to the palate. The Mount Horrocks Cordon Cut Riesling captures the incredibly appealing, concentrated, ultra-pure flavours of the riesling grape, at once lusciously sweet yet refreshing and more-ish. Its citrus flavours are in the lemon juice/zest spectrum, with characteristic zingy acidity balanced by intense fruit flavour and appealing sweetness. An ethereal textural experience that has to be tasted to be believed. Clean fresh and bright now, it will age for up to ten years beautifully.
This is a 375ml format.
Most of the sweet wines we tasted are a sticky, cloying mess and almost impossible to get excited about. The Mount Horrocks Cordon Cut Riesling however is a delightful exception. Sweet nectarines and honey are abundant. However the sticky sensation that often accompanies sweet wines dissipates almost instantly here, cut away by the lively acids this wine possesses. What remained are the pleasant sweetness and a fresh palate that begs for more. We recommend pairing this with foie gras and creme brulee. Interestingly, the Mount Horrocks Cordon Cut Riesling is listed in the book 1001 wines to try before you die, so if you haven't tried the wine yet, don't wait until it's too late.
