The Bourgogne region produces some of the world's most consistent table wines and also some of the most expensive. With this wine, Olivier Leflaive has produced a burgundy that is true to the Bourgogne style of medium-body, full flavoured wine and at a price that represents very good value.
Pinot Noir is the dominant grape variety of the region and here it displays its true character. The Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Cuvee Margot Rouge is made from a blend of around twenty different low yielding plots from the Côte de Beaune, from Santenay to Pernand-Vergelesses.
Destemmed and aged 16 months in stainless steel tank (5 months) and oak barrels to soften the tannins, the Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Cuvee Margot Rouge has a flattering nose with aromas of small red berries (strawberry, raspberry). The palate is fresh and elegant reminiscient of crunchy fruits and fine tannins.
The Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Cuvee Margot Rouge can be enjoyed now and it will also age well and could be enjoyed in many years' time. If you like burgundy then you will enjoy this wine and if you are new to the French burgundy style then this is a very good starting point.
