The Avignonesi Capannelle 50 & 50 is a wine made jointly by Avignonesi and Capannelle. It is a wine that interprets the distinctive qualities of two wine areas, among the oldest in Tuscany, in a surprising double terroir expression: Chianti (Capannelle) soil, rich in clay, and the clay soil of Montepulciano (Avignonesi). The characteristics of the 2 different terroir combine perfectly in the choice of vines. The Sangiovese Capannelle leads to blend structure, tannins and austerity, while the Avignonesi Merlot contributes with elegance, softness and depth. Aging in French oak barrels lasts for 18 months.
The Avignonesi Capannelle 50&50 2018 is full, dense and polished, with lovely raspberry, plum, new wood and fresh herb character. Layered and gorgeous.
"Ruby red colour with light garnet highlights. The nose reveals vegetal and floral notes of roses and violets, followed by hints of ripe red berries. The palate is deep and rich with a juicy and persistent finish." - Falstaff, 93 points
