Borthwick Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Winery: Borthwick vineyard
Country: New Zealand
Region:  Wairarapa Martinborough
Body: Light
Varietal: Sauvignon blanc
The cool growing season has produced a wine with intense tropical, cantaloupe, melon and ripe passionfruit aromas with an underlying hint of gooseberry, guava and lycee. The Borthwick Sauvignon Blanc is a wine with great balance, structure and intensity.

The Borthwick Sauvignon Blanc hails from the North Island. This wine is not as aromatic as Marlborough sauvignon blancs with their gooseberries and grassy notes, but it has a more developed palate. Because of the warmer climate in the north, the fruits get to ripen over a longer period. As a result, tropical fruits are prominent on the nose and the wine has a fuller weight. We like this wine because it addresses the shortcomings of many Marlborough sauvignon blancs, mainly wines with heady perfumy bouquet but severely lacking in depth. We recommend serving the Borthwick Sauvignon Blanc as an aperitif or pairing it with scallops and prawns.
