Every so often there are parcels of wine that generate tremendous excitement amongst the winemakers at Schild Estate. These parcels are set aside to make PRÄMIE, the wine that defines the best of the vintage and the land on which it was grown.
Deep, dark ruby in colour. The Schild Estate Pramie Shiraz is full, soft and layered with aromas of vibrant blackberries and blood plum fruit. These are coupled with secondary more subtle hints of cedar wood, fresh vanilla bean, pan forte and clove spice. Intense primary fresh plum flavours show again on the palate, where they hold their presence all the way through to roll out soft and “pillowy” at the finish. A firmly present, but fine tannin framework provides just enough focus and lift for the fruit to ensure added complexity, but retaining vibrancy to the mouth flavours of this wine.
Pramie, the German word meaning premium, bonus or award, is an appropriate name for this special release Shiraz from Schild Estate. The combination of good terroir, kind nature and meticulous winemaking has resulted in a bottle that is rewarding for anyone who drinks it. Beautifully ripe fruits are balanced by the toasty spiced oak and firm tannins. There is sufficient acidity left in the fruits to ensure that this is not another Barossa fruit bomb. This is Schild Estate's limited release and is made only when the winemakers are sufficiently excited about the exceptional quality of the selected parcels of fruits available from the vintage. Enjoy!
