From the Kurayoshi Distillery comes the Matsui Mizunara Cask, which unsurprisingly has been aged in rare Japanese Mizunara oak. The no age statement single malt was bottled at 43% ABV, after blending with water from Mt. Daisen. On the bottle you can see Katsushika Hokusai’s Thirty Six Views of Mount Fuji, Mt. Fuji from Tea Plantation of Katakura in Suruga Province.
The Kurayoshi Matsui Mizunara Cask Single Malt Whisky shows a fresh, floral aroma followed by sweet vanilla and baking spice, with a touch of creamy coconut. The whisky has a velvety mouthfeel with rich oak, cinnamon, ginger and a touch of chilli spice, balanced by toffee sweetness. The finish is smooth and silky caramel lingers alongside floral oak, tobacco and vanilla pod.
