A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre.
Deep ruby in colour, the M Chapoutier Chateauneuf-du-Pape Pie VI Rouge exhibits a nose of ripe fruit, spice and bitter cocoa. Notes of blackberry jelly and aromatic herbs emerge once the wine has had chance to breathe. Soft with velvety tannins on entry, the palate shows a lovely balance of concentration and complexity. The notes of liqueurs and rich juice give way to hints of soft spice and dark chocolate on the finish.
“A lively, driven and precise red with plenty of verve and vibrancy. The nose shows aromas of raspberries, wild berries, bitter orange and warm stones. Its medium- to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. It's vivid, with a crunchy, zesty character at the center. Bitter orange shows up between the solid frame of tannins, coating the edges. So much tension.” – James Suckling, 95 Points
