January began with a roar and closed with a whimper. The current health situation has put a serious dampener on everyone’s mood at the moment. If the beginning of January felt like a young man on his first date with loads of promise, the close must resemble a chap past 40 waiting for his date night, fear and trepidation of whether he could still handle the rigour of whatever might come next.
But like my teacher often says, “Good, bad, who knows?”. To my mind, if the Coronavirus means spending more time at home, it could mean more opportunity for people to develop deeper relations with family and close friends. Wine loosens the tongue, so it is Wines Online’s sacred duty now more so than ever to help facilitate conversations by putting great wine at the table.
We have compiled our Top 40 Wines of 2019, the annual list of best selling wines culled from our website and bottle shop, now into its fifth year. We hope you find inspiration from the selections here and put some of them at your table too. Let’s hope life returns to normalcy soon, but in the meantime, there’s no reason why we can’t ride out the tough times in good style and taste. Sante!
