Napa Valley's 1994 vintage produced wines of extraordinary concentration, depth and balance. Winter and spring rains provided just 75 to 80 % of average rainfall, but moderate temperatures kept the vines from becoming water-stressed. Sunny and dry, March's weather resulted in an early bud break. The following months were cooler than average, extending the growing seasonsignificantly. Showing a profound depth of color, the 1994 Opus One has a rich, full body with supple, velvety tannins and intense aromas of licorice and spice. Retaining great freshness andelegance, the 1994 is a powerful wine which will improve for decades.
