Domenico Clerico's reserve Barolo, the Percristina (named after his daughter who tragically died at the age of seven), is made from grapes grown in the Mosconi vineyard in the Monforte d'Alba zone of Barolo. This small vineyard site is found on a steep hill with southern aspect and a soil of white tufa that gives wines of unusual structure and tannin. The Percristina 2003 displays a sweet bouquet of over-ripe black fruit accented with rich chocolate that seems swirled with smoke.
