This traditionally-produced Clot d'Encis Rosat rosé wine is obtained from a blend based principally on Syrah grapes, a grape with a significant expressiveness. The blend also includes red Grenache, albeit in a lesser proportion. Production starts out from a healthy harvest with a degree of ripening uncommon in a red wine. Both varieties are processed separately. First a short pre-fermentation cold maceration, followed by a fermentation of the must at controlled temperatures. The result is a wine of intense pink colour with an extremely varietal aroma and fruity taste. On the palate it is fresh, fruity and full-bodied.
This is a rose that will surprise anyone who finds rose wines one dimensional and uninteresting. Topping out at 14% alcohol, the Clot d'Encis Rosat is not a washed out rose wine as some roses could be. We tasted this wine at various temperatures and were impressed by its versatility. At a temperature typically associated with drinking white wines, we find that the ripe fruit flavours are subtle and nicely balanced by fresh acids. As the wine warms up to room temperature (about 15 degrees celsius for red wines), the ripeness stands out and will impress most red wine drinkers. We recommend serving the Clot d'Encis Rosat chilled and let it warm up slowly and nicely. This wine is perfect for a party.
