Only about 15,000 bottles produced a year.
The Avignonesi Capannelle 50 & 50 is a wine made jointly by Avignonesi and Capannelle. It is a wine that interprets the distinctive qualities of two wine areas, among the oldest in Tuscany, in a surprising double terroir expression: Chianti (Capannelle) soil, rich in clay, and the clay soil of Montepulciano (Avignonesi). The characteristics of the 2 different terroir combine perfectly in the choice of vines. The Sangiovese Capannelle leads to blend structure, tannins and austerity, while the Avignonesi Merlot contributes with elegance, softness and depth. Aging in French oak barrels lasts for 18 months.
The Avignonesi Capannelle 50&50 2013 has an intense and brilliant ruby red color with violet hues. Its aroma is penetrating with full expressions of vanilla, toast, tobacco and coffee. The initial floral notes give way to aromas of cherry, myrtle and strawberry. The taste is delicate and full, with silky tannins. The palate shows red fruits, tobacco, vanilla and leather. This is a big red wine that is great to drink on its own, but can be perfectly paired with fine meats, roast game, game, dry cheeses, strong and tasty.
