Only about 15,000 bottles produced a year.
The Avignonesi Capannelle 50 & 50 is a wine made jointly by Avignonesi and Capannelle. It is a wine that interprets the distinctive qualities of two wine areas, among the oldest in Tuscany, in a surprising double terroir expression: Chianti (Capannelle) soil, rich in clay, and the clay soil of Montepulciano (Avignonesi). The characteristics of the 2 different terroir combine perfectly in the choice of vines. The Sangiovese Capannelle leads to blend structure, tannins and austerity, while the Avignonesi Merlot contributes with elegance, softness and depth. Aging in French oak barrels lasts for 18 months.
The Avignonesi Capannelle 50&50 2012 has a deep, ruby red color. Aromas of blackcurrants and sour cherries are intertwined with scents of sandalwood, cloves, thyme and menthol. The flavour is rich and enveloping, with lots of ripe fruit and warm notes of baking spices. Longlingering and elegant, the finish is delicately balsamic. This is a wine suitable for long ageing in the bottle.
